Review imported transactions

Each imported line is categorised, matched, split or excluded — and only the ones you add reach the books.

Who this is for
Owner, admin or bookkeeper.
Before you start
  • A statement imported and open at the review step.
Availability
Available in the hosted app and the local build. The AI suggestions button appears only when the AI service is configured; it suggests, it never posts.

Steps

  1. On the For review tab, type a Category on each row — an account name, with a new name offering to create the account — and a payee if you want one. Rows that a rule filled in are already complete and also listed under Rules applied.
  2. Use the row menu for Find a match (or Change match) when the line is a payment already in the books, Split to divide it across accounts until the remainder is zero, Exclude for personal or transfer lines that do not belong, and Create rule to make next month automatic.
  3. Tick several rows and use Set category to categorise them together, Exclude to exclude them, or Add to post the ticked rows. Confirm add posts them.
  4. Choose Queue for approval instead of adding when someone else posts: the rows become drafts on the Approvals screen.
  5. The Search box filters by description, payee or amount. Categorized lists what has been handled, with Undo on each row; Excluded lists what you set aside, with a way to restore.

What you should see

Added rows post as entries dated from the statement; the summary counts fall as rows are handled, and Nothing left to review appears when the tab is empty.

If it goes wrong

A row that says it needs a category cannot be added until an account is chosen. A refusal naming a period lock means the line is dated inside a locked period; move the lock or exclude the line. If you added the wrong category, open Categorized and choose Undo — the entry is reversed, never deleted.
