Troubleshooting
When something looks wrong
You can tell a stale screen from a lost save, a lock from an error, and a read-only role from a broken button — and know what to do for each.
- Who this is for
- Anyone using the app.
- Availability
- Save status, Refresh and sign-in apply to the hosted app. The local build keeps books in this browser and shows Saved in this browser on the Data card instead.
Steps
- Figures look old: choose Refresh in the toolbar. Its tooltip says when the figures on screen were computed; Refresh pulls anything posted elsewhere and recomputes everything from the journal.
- A red ✕ under Ledger integrity: your latest change was not saved. The message names the reason. Fix it (most often a period lock or a lost connection) and the line turns to ✓ Saved to server. Do not close the tab while it is red.
- “Could not reach the server. Showing what this browser has.”: the connection dropped. You are looking at the last copy this browser loaded. Wait, then Refresh; do not re-enter work.
- A posting is refused naming a period lock: the date is on or before the lock. Date it later, or ask an owner or admin to move the lock under Settings & Close → Accounting.
- Buttons are greyed out with “read-only access”: your role is viewer. Ask an owner or admin to change it. Trial balance ties and A = L + E at the bottom of the sidebar should always read ✓; if either reads ✕, stop and contact support before posting more.
- Still stuck: email support@qetaab.com with the company name, the screen, and the exact message.
What you should see
You know whether to wait, refresh, change a date, or ask for a role change — and when to ask for help.
If it goes wrong
If a browser shows a very old version of the app after an update, close every Qetaab tab and open it again; an installed copy on a phone updates on the next launch with a connection.
