Arrange your dashboard
Your dashboard shows its cards in the order you work, without the cards you do not use, on desktop and on a phone.
- Who this is for
- Anyone who can open the books, a viewer included.
- Before you start
- You can open the company in Qetaab. Arranging changes how your dashboard looks, never the books, so read-only access is enough.
- Availability
- Available in the hosted app, where your arrangement is kept with your sign-in for each set of books, and in the local build, where this browser keeps it for each company. It is not part of a JSON backup, the books sync or the QuickBooks export, so restoring a backup does not change it.
Steps
- Open Dashboard and choose Arrange beside As of. Each card gains a bar with a handle showing its name, two arrow buttons and Hide, and an Arrange your dashboard panel opens above the cards.
- Drag a card by its handle and drop it where you want it; a line shows where it will land. Press Escape before you let go to leave it where it was. On a phone the cards are in one column, so they move up and down only.
- Without a mouse, use the arrow buttons on the card, or press Tab to reach a handle and use the arrow keys: each press moves the card one place, and Home or End moves it to the start or the end. A screen reader hears the new place, for example Top expenses, moved to position 3 of 12.
- Choose Hide on a card you do not need. It leaves the dashboard and waits under Show hidden in the panel; choose Show beside its name to bring it back where it was.
- Choose Reset to default to put every card back in the standard order with nothing hidden. Hide and Reset to default ask nothing first, because both are undone from the same panel.
- Choose Done (or Done arranging at the top) to put the handles away. The company name, As of, the books-balance line and the first steps always stay at the top and cannot be moved.
What you should see
The dashboard opens in your arrangement each time you come back to these books. Somebody else who opens the same books keeps their own arrangement, and a new person sees the standard one.
If it goes wrong
If you are told your saved arrangement could not be read, the standard arrangement is showing and the damaged one has been replaced; arrange it again. If a change could not be saved, the message says why and your dashboard keeps the arrangement on screen until you leave it. In the local build the arrangement is kept by this browser, so clearing its site data or using another browser starts from the standard arrangement.
